Olympus E-PL3 hits in September

The Olympus PEN E-PL3 – an interchangeable lens camera – will be available in September, Olympus announced this morning, and is expected to sell for $699.99 (what Olympus refers to as its ‘street price.’).

It will be sold bundled with either a wide-angle zoom 14-42 mm lens (28-84 mm equivalent) or the 17 mm ultra-compact wide-angle pancake lens (34 mm equivalent).

At the same time, Olympus will offer the new VF-3 electronic viewfinder, a device which attaches to PEN cameras with an accessory port. It will likely sell for $179.99.

Details of the E-PL3 can be found here.

The VF-3 is for photographers who like the option of holding the camera up to their eye to compose (me! me!). It has 100 percent field-of-view, built-in diopter adjustment and can be rotated up to 90-degrees to accommodate different shooting angles for additional creative control. You’ll also be able to adjust the brightness and colour temperature to your own particular tastes.

The Olympus PEN E-PL3 kit will be available in black, white, red, and silver.
