Windows Photo Gallery now supports RAW

Microsoft Canada says Windows Live Photo Gallery 2011 will now support RAW format images. It’s a built-in Windows solution. Now, says the company, if you want to view RAW files on your PC you can do so in Windows Photo Gallery and Windows Explorer.

What you need to do is download the Microsoft Camera Codec Pack for Windows 7 and Vista and you’ll be able to view and edit copies of RAW files, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, and other formats.

Microsoft says the codec pack supports more than 120 DSLR cameras.

To download the Codec Pack, go to the Microsoft Download centre and type in “camera codec pack.”
