Polaroid, the company, went under quite a while ago, but its name lives on, appearing on a variety of consumer products. Now we have the Polaroid Z340 Instant Digital Camera, and a return – of sorts – to the cameras of old.
ZINK? That’s a brand, derived from “Zero ink.” ZINK Paper looks like regular white photo paper, but it’s a composite material with cyan, yellow, and magenta dye crystals embedded inside. Before printing, the embedded dye crystals are clear. Heat is then applied to activate the crystals.
Lo and behold, a 3 x 4-inch print, the same size as a classic Polaroid print.
ZINK prints emerge fully developed (unlike Polaroid pictures) and protected by a smudge-proof, water-resistant coating.
The Polaroid Z340 camera gives you the option to choose the iconic Polaroid Classic Border Logo or full bleed and contemporary 3 x 4 photos.
On-board editing features allow review and cropping prior to printing. You can even upload your own custom borders to the camera.
