panasonic g6There’s no official word from Panasonic about the availability and price of the Lumix DMC-G6 interchangeable lens camera in Canada, but it has been announced in both Japan and the U.S.

We’ll have full details on our companion site as soon as it’s announced here, but here’s what we know:

The camera features Wi-Fi connectivity with Near Field Communication (NFC) technology so you can connect the camera to a smartphone/tablet anywhere with one-touch, and use a smartphone/tablet as a multi-capable remote shutter with a monitor.

It incorporates Creative Panorama, Time Lapse Shot, Stop Motion Animation, and Clear Retouch in addition to the popular Creative Control mode with a total of 19 filter effects.

The G6 features a Digital Live MOS sensor, has a new Venus processing engine and can hit a maximum ISO 25,600 (Extended).

Also in its bag of tricks is a new 1,440K-dot OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) viewfinder.
