Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival, an annual event in May, features more than 1,500 Canadian and international artists and photographers exhibiting at more than 175 venues throughout the Greater Toronto Area.
The Festival is devoted to celebrating and fostering the art and profession of photography, through a diverse range of free exhibitions, public installations, films, lectures, and workshops, attracting an audience of more than 1.8 million people.
Nikon Canada is a CONTACT partner, delivering three main events: Nikon Lecture Series, featuring world-class authorities in the photographic arts who will share their worldly experiences, expertise, techniques, and the tips and tricks they’ve learned throughout their careers; Field of Vision photo contest, encouraging submissions from photographers of all skill levels to submit photos based on weekly assignments for a chance to win prizes; and Nikon Scholarships, awarded to three Canadian photography students to attend the Magnum Photos Workshop in Toronto.
The Nikon Lecture Series topics include how to shoot engaging portraits in five minutes or less, how to
capture the perfect moment on video, how to accurately represent the beauty of the natural outdoors, and how to improve the quality of your shots by engaging your subjects, painting light and other techniques.
The lecture series dates are May 8, 15, 22, and 29; 6:00 – 8:30 p.m., at St. Paul’s Bloor Street, 227 Bloor Street E.
Details are here.
Attendees at any session of the Nikon Lecture Series are invited to bring their DSLR to receive a complimentary sensor cleaning service from NPS Canada.
Each week during CONTACT 2013, Nikon Canada will challenge photographers with a different assignment for a chance to win a Nikon Coolpix P330 and a $50 gift certificate from Vistek. One grand prize winner will be selected by public community voting and will receive a CONTACT Limited Edition Print (valued at $1,000).
