A prototype of the Touit 50 mm f/2.8 macro lens has been revealed by Zeiss for compact system cameras from Sony and Fujifilm. It has a magnification power of 1:1, and is scheduled for availability in the first quarter of 2014.
A second lens, the Otus 55 mm f/1.4 SLR lens, is the first in a new family of high-end camera lenses from the company.
Zeiss says the Otus 55 mm lens is the best standard SLR lens on the market and produces image quality that rivals high-end medium format systems. The lens is said to achieve maximum definition and contrast rendition down to the image corners and delivers unparalleled imaging excellence even at maximum aperture. It’s not going to be cheap. Scheduled for availability momentarily, it will carry a recommended price of €2,940 or $4,155.
