Think Tank goes mirrorless

Mirrorless camera users have not been forgotten by the folks at Think Tank Photo, manufacturers of low profile/high capacity shoulder bags for urban photographers. The Urban Approach shoulder bags, scheduled for availability this spring, are designed to have room for a compact mirrorless camera system and a tablet.

There are two models. Urban Approach 5 holds one medium to large mirrorless camera body with lens attached, one to three additional lenses, and an 8-inch tablet. Urban Approach 10 holds one medium to large mirrorless body or compact DSLR with lens attached, two to four additional lenses, and up to a 10-inch tablet.

Delightfully, Think Tank gives examples of what the bags will hold. Urban Approach 5 will handle a Fuji X–T1 with 18–55 mm f/2.8–4 lens attached, 14 mm f/2.8, 35mm f/1.4, and up to an iPad mini. It also holds a Canon Rebel t5i with 18–55 mm f/3.5–5.6 attached, 55–250 mm f/4–5.6, 50 mm f/1.8 and up to an 8-inch tablet. Urban Approach 10 will handle a Sony a7r with 24–70 mm f/4 attached, 70–200 mm f/4, 55 mm f/1.8, 35 mm f/2.8, and up to a 10-inch tablet. It also holds a Canon Rebel t5i with 24–70 mm f/4 attached, 70-200 mm f/4, 16–35 mm f/4, and up to a 10-inch tablet.

That’s not all for mirrorless camera users, because the company also has announced the Urban Approach 15 backpack designed specifically to hold complete mirrorless camera, as well as a 15-inch laptop, up to a 10-inch tablet, smart phone, and extra space for other stuff. A tripod can be carried on the side of the backpack with included strap.

Again, Think Tank offers real world examples: The backpack holds 1–2 medium to large mirrorless bodies with lens attached, 5–8 additional lenses, up to a 10-inch tablet and a 15-inch laptop. So, a Sony a7r with 24–70 mm f/4 attached, 70–200 mm f/4, 55 mm f/1.8, 35 mm f/2.8, Sony a6000 with 16–50 mm f/3.5-5.6 attached, 55–210 mm f/4.5-6.3, HVL–F43M Flash (x2), tablet and laptop.
