With a weak dollar, Canadians have come to expect increased prices for imported goods. Another sign of the times, Fujifilm has announced price increases for its photographic films, but this time it’s not just Canada which will experience the increase.
The price increase is worldwide, and it is “substantial,” says the company, “at least double digit.”
Affected are all colour neg film, colour reversal film, B&W film, and Quick Snap film.
Fujifilm notes the demand for film products continues to decrease and the cost of production, including raw materials, remains at a high level. Cost increases associated with lower volumes have become impossible for the company to absorb, so it is forced to pass along those costs.
